Hello reader! Welcome to my little corner of the internet. I’m starting a blog to document my journey towards a simpler style of life and to discuss my thoughts about simple living.
Who am I?
A completely ordinary person. I live in California and work full-time. I struggle with feeling present, spending too much time online, and feeling overwhelmed by modern society.
I’m not an expert or academic, just a woman who wants to simplify her life. Any advice that I share on this blog will be based on my personal experiences, books I’ve read, and poking around the internet. What works for me may not work for you, and vice versa.
Simple living is having a moment right now, but there are few (if any) academic-level research studies about simple living, slow living, minimalism, or digital minimalism—a lot of conclusions about these topics are anecdotal, personal, and not absolute. This blog is intended to be inspirational rather than educational.
What’s this blog about?
Simple living. For years I’ve been gravitating slowly towards this philosophy, that simplicity is the key to a fulfilling life. To reject over-consumption, materialism, and chasing status is to make space for the things that truly matter, like friendship, personal growth, health, and financial stability. I’m by no means a guru. I’m working towards a simple life, and I invite you to follow along.
To me, simple living has many facets. Aspects of anti-consumerism, digital minimalism, and financial independence. Getting offline and exploring the local community. Slow travel. Spending time in nature. Devoting time to meaningful hobbies. If any of these things appeal to you, let’s explore them together!
Why a blog?
Inspiration and accountability. For example, my first post was about a 30-day decluttering challenge I undertook, and knowing I would post about it helped me to stick with it, even though it got difficult a few days in.
